Gimme a little PGN love

by admin on April 25, 2009

In his comment on my last post, Chad asked if I could post PGN’s of the games that I analyze on this blog. I’m happy to oblige!

Here are the PGN’s for four recent games I have gone over in the blog. Click on the link on the left to download the PGN. Click on the link on the right to see the corresponding blog post.

Mackenzie-Rand  (from “Reno, Round 6 — Wild Middlegame, Exquisite Endgame”)

Beilin-Mackenzie  (from “Reno, Round 5 — Amazing Tactics, Psychology”)

Mezentsev-Mackenzie  (from “Far West Open — Day 1”)

Mackenzie-Benjamin  (from “The 41st Move”)

In the future I will try to remember to provide the PGN in the same blog post where I discuss the game. I hope this makes it easier for you to play over the games!

Are you planning on covering the 2009 US Chess Championship at all?

I found out the chess club that’s hosting it is offering all of the games live on their site through PGN’s.

Hi Jared,

I’m a little bit ambivalent about covering the US championship, for two reasons. One is that I prefer to write about events that I can attend live. The second reason is that the U.S. championship games will be closely scrutinized by lots of people who are better than I am — so it will be hard for me to say something of value that you can’t find on other blogs or websites.

But in spite of that, I definitely reserve the right to comment on any games that particularly excite me! So we’ll see.

Dana,

Thank you for responding to my post! I have heard your name and blog in highly respectable terms around the net.

If you are interested in tracking games, the championship’s host will have all of the rounds available live through their site: http://www.saintlouischessclub.org/

Cheers,

Jared

1 other quick thing;

Any player who scores a 9-0 sweep will be awarded the Fischer Memorial Prize, a $64,000 bonus in addition to the first-place award….exciting stuff

Thanks,
Jared
