Chess Translations

In 2010, I began translating some of Grandmaster Sergey Shipov’s game annotations from the Crestbook website (www.crestbook.com). This page will serve as a permanent link to the translations, so that you don’t have to scroll down through all of my other blog entries to find them.

Hello Dana,
I just want to say that I as a German with no knowledge in Russian very much appreciate your tranlations, as much as I like GM Shipov’s annotations.
Please continue your great work!
Matthias

Dana, thank you for your translations! They are invaluable for people who don’t understand Russian, but who want to understand what Shipov is saying.

Dana, a praiseworthy job to get us closer to intimate knowledge of modern Masters.

Sadly, we haven’t tapped entirely into the well of works of the giants of classic chess era yet.

For example, we have had translated to English Smyslov’s 125 Selected Games (Cardogan, Ken Neat), but the epic “Letopis shakhmatnog tvorchestva” (Leonardo Chess Institute, Moscow 1993, 794 pp.) with 324 games and Smyslov’s invaluable insight is still out of reach for the Western reader.
