Translations Will Continue

by admin on April 29, 2010

Wow! Color me flabbergasted! I checked my blog stats this morning, and could not believe how many readers came to my blog yesterday. Seven hundred seventy (770) views! Just for comparison, that was more than ten times as many guests as I get on a typical day, and more than three and a half times my previous record number of views for one day (212).

From this surge in traffic, plus the number of favorable comments I received yesterday, I can conclude three things:

  1. People like to read about current events.
  2. World championship matches are the best current events that the chess world has to offer.
  3. I’m not the only one who enjoys GM Sergei Shipov’s commentary.

So, I just want to let you know that I will continue to translate Shipov’s analysis. You can plan on coming back here for game five tomorrow. I haven’t decided for sure whether I will translate everything — which is probably what most fans would like, but would be a lot of work — or just translate the highlights, as I did last time. I guess it will depend on how much time I have and how exciting the game is.

I may even interject some comments of my own, since after all it is my blog. However, I will probably keep those to a minimum, because it is very doubtful that I will see anything that the massed grandmasters and computer engines of the world will miss. At best, my comments will show you what I personally find confusing.

Finally, one warning: I’m not planning to do live coverage — that would mean getting up at 5:00 AM! No thanks!

Okay, see you tomorrow!
